• Fixed Term:  9 – 12 months

• Location:      Wissington
• Salary:          £40,929.48

During the campaign period (approximately September to February), this role operates on a fixed rotating shift pattern consisting of 12-hour night shifts, including weekends.

Outside of the campaign period, working hours move to a more standard Monday to Friday, daytime schedule. 

Job Purpose

The role supports the inbound operations function by delivering different activities across the year’s two operational periods. During campaign, the focus is on leading the Tarehouse Lab operation. The off season focuses on maintenance of the Tarehouse Lab, support of root dig and soil sampling activities.

Core Accountabilities

• Coordination of safe and effective Tarehouse Lab operations
• Cleaning and regular maintenance of laboratory equipment and surrounding area
• Ensuring the contractual obligations to the NFU are fulfilled within the Tarehouse Lab operation (e.g. IPA-lead parameters)
• Support of wider Tarehouse and beet intake activities during periods of lower sample numbers or completed maintenance
• Swift reaction to laboratory issues, for example interacting with engineering teams or replacing parts.
• Support of annual Tarehouse maintenance activities
• Support of the soil sampling service
• Support of annual root dig activity

Skills, Knowledge & Competencies

• GCSE/GCE or equivalent level qualification in a scientific subject
• Previous experience working in a factory environment
• Previous experience working on manual engineering-type tasks
• Positive ‘can do’ attitude.
• Able to handle a mobile role
• Ability to communicate effective to all levels
• Good communication and organisational skills
