Job Purpose

We are pleased to offer the opportunity for an experienced E&I technician currently working within a complex industrial setting. This person will be looking for a new challenge to support and influence the development of the electrical and instrumentation capability at a world class sugar producing site.

 

Electrical and instrumentation biased technician supporting process operations and maintenance activities across a large, complex industrial site with a variety of motors, instruments and voltages. This role may cover shift or day-based activities dependent upon site requirements. Reporting to the Engineering Lead, this role will carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance as required.

Core Accountabilities

  • Work in partnership with Department Engineering Lead and department technicians to carry out repairs to process plant
  • Troubleshooting and practical fault finding on plant within electrical/instrumentation/control systems
  • Installation of new plant or modifications as appropriate
  • Carry out planned inspection routes on process plant and proactive maintenance
  • During maintenance periods undertake maintenance activities as well as testing and commissioning plant in readiness for operations
  • Working with systems from 24v to 11kv, single phase and 3 phase distribution systems, 4-20mA instrumentation, installation work, Project installations, maintenance and fault finding in a heavy industrial environment
  • Reporting of all engineering activities in the appropriate format into the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Making plant safe for maintenance/repairs
  • Competent to receive and/or authorise a range of permits as required

Skills, Knowledge & Competencies

  • Comprehensive technical knowledge and hands on skills gained through large scale, complex operational factory experience
  • Understanding of hazards and controls associated with a complex industrial environment and producing food and animal feeds
  • NVQ level 3 in Electrical Engineering supported by a recognised apprenticeship
  • A proven track record of effective technical problem solving, fault diagnosis, maintenance and continuous improvement
  • Ability to work as an individual and with groups
  • Ability to effectively balance urgent and important tasks
  • Experience of working in a lean operating environment
  • Experience of working in an operational team of varying disciplines and skill levels
