Grade: Tier 2.

Hourly rate: £14.44

Campaign rate: £15.41

Working Pattern: Day based, 8 hours, Monday-Friday, working 1 in 3 full weekends

 

 

The position is TEMPORARY, employment will end approximately March 2026 (To be confirmed).

 

Job Purpose

Reporting to the APU Process Lead, this is a rewarding hands-on based role, where you will be applying new knowledge and experience developed, to lead a critical key process station. Closely monitoring product quality produced, identifying, and diagnosing problems, faults, or quality issues to prevent them from escalating and impacting the downstream process.

 

At British Sugar we have a culture of Continuous Improvement, and this will be an important aspect of this role.

 

The role will involve working an 8 hour day based shift pattern during our Operational period; Monday to Friday, working 1 in 3 full weekends.

 

Core Accountabilities

  • Taking ownership by accurately maintaining and optimising the Dry Lime Press station
  • Fluently work with the shift team and Extraction pack Operator, adhering to their requests and supporting them to optimise and maintain reliability of the DLP Station & LimeX Quality.
  • Maintaining housekeeping standards to a high level along with adhering to food safety and hygiene requirements.
  • Monitoring product quality, conducting and recording of Quality Assurance checks as well as carrying out routine plant inspections and maintenance.
  • Monitor and operate mechanical equipment, identify problems, and respond to faults as they occur.
  • Support and drive improvement activities, including reviewing work procedures and assisting with plant trials.
  • Support daily reviews with members of the Management team and Engineering team, to identify any issues/opportunities.
  • When required, liaise with the Shift team to support the performance, reliability, and cleanliness of the Slicer Station.

 

 

 

Skills, Knowledge & Competencies

  • The ideal person for this role will have previous experience of working in either a process/industrial environment or have experience of working with and assisting the maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Accuracy and repeatability are key, so an attention to detail is essential for this role.
  • Have the ability to work as part of a team to deliver Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental compliance.
  • Openly challenge and drive safe working behaviours.
  • Proven experience of problem solving in a mechanical or process environment.
  • Have a hands-on, practical approach to their work, along with a great can-do attitude.
  • Have basic IT skills including use of Microsoft Teams.
  • A relevant vocational qualification would be desirable, but not essential.
